Check-raising bottom set on flop
My first actual hand post in SSNL!!
Effective stacks 100 BB. Hero is on BB at just under 200 BB, having stacked a guy with 86 vs. AT three hands earlier (called on board of A82, check-raised all-in on turn of 6). Have a loose table image. Villain 1 (raiser) is kinda loose-passive. Sees a lot of flops but is generally non-committal after pf raise. No read on Villain 2. $100 NL Hero in BB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG+1 limps, Villain 1 (MP) raises to $4.5, Villain 2 (CO) calls, Hero calls, UTG+1 folds. Flop ($15ish) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero checks, Villain 1 bets $12, Villain 2 calls, Hero ??? Checking on the flop is clear. The question is, what do we do. The board is dry, so check/calling with the intention of check/raising river is an option but I'm not a huge fan of it. So how much to raise to? Do we be fishy and raise to $24? Or do we be stronger and raise to $36 or even $50?. While 96 is not in MPs range, I think 87 and 45 are and certainly TT+. |

Re: Check-raising bottom set on flop
Let me preface this by saying I don't think you can do anything wrong here.
Since the pot is 3 way and is getting nicely built already, I would call here and lead on the turn. The pot is big enough now that you can get your stack in with the remaining two streets, and the extra card might give villain 1 more reason to continue in the hand. Edit: this way you don't have to make any strong c/r moves that set alarm bells off |

Re: Check-raising bottom set on flop
Yeah the flop check here is standard, since the PFR will usually bet and you have an opponent stuck in the middle, who'll likely call with not much in this spot.
I think I really prefer to raise here, rather than calling and donking the turn. |

I would c/r the flop to ~35 and build a pot.

Board is dry and AK will be pissed that you are trying to make a a move on him. I'd lead the flop (calling a raise) with plans to check raise the turn AI. |

Re: Check-raising bottom set on flop
How do you agree less when read on villain is that he is passive?
As played, raise! |
