Zomg copa america!!! [/ QUOTE ] Slightly surprised, but not shocked by your sarcasm being that you are from Chile. Oh well... Anyway, I imagine this thread will get a little more attention when the US plays Argentina on Thursday. But just some information to start off discussion on groups and what not... Group A Peru Uruguay Venezuela Bolivia Before the tournament started I thought that Peru and Uruguay would be the ones to go through here in what is obviously the weakest group. But today Uruguay looked really bad getting destroyed by Peru 3-0 (try to get a look at Peru's 2nd goal, pretty sweet) and the Bolivia Venezuela (2-2) match was not as bad as I would have thought. Venezuela looked like the slightly weaker team but playing at home in packed stadiums (copa america games don't usually sell out) might fuel them to take 2nd in this group behind Peru. Group B (Games tonight 6/27 in the evening) Brazil Mexico Chile Ecuador Brazil brought a B team with very few players from their WC 2006 team. But still Brazil's B is better then just about every country's A with the exception of a few. Mexico also has what I've been seeing as most of their players from the Gold Cup. I would expect those two teams to pass but this is a very tough group. Group C (games begin Thursday 6/28) Argentina USA Paraguay Colombia Although, I get blasted non-stop with biased sports coverage of how great the Argentine team is I don't see how anyone even in the rest of the world could not choose them as the favorites. They have a full strength team and even Juan Roman Riquelme's Mom allowed him to play. There is just too much and they are too deep. Imagine having Tevez or Messi on your bench?? I'm also slightly biased towards the US so I would say that maybe with their "A" team they would be a very slight favorite to advance but this is a tough group and as it is I don't see them passing. It doesn't help to start off versus Argentina in your first game either. I believe Paraguay will pass. |

[/ QUOTE ] Now just for fun, my 3rd place teams: Group A Before 1st game I had 1.Peru 2.Uruguay 3.Venezuela Now: 1.Peru 2.Venezuela 3.Bolivia Group B 3rd place Ecuador Group C ugghh.... heart/head??? I'll go USA! Who goes isn't necessarily who would be the best 3rd place teams but points and what not obviously would be more important. B and C will be tighter groups in my opinion in between 2 and 3rd so I will say Ecuador and the US on to the knockout stage. |
