Smell that? It's almost baseball season again. It is good that there are some threads being started in this forum, like the one on The Book, some fantasy threads, and the who is your favorite team thread. But we need some more trash talking. So, pick your Division & Wild Card winners here, now, and pull this thread back up in October and see how bad you suck at predictions.

Late May: on a close play at first Alex Rodriguez steps on Brad Radke's foot, breaking his ankle. Derek Jeter plays the rest of the season at 3B.
On July 4th, with the Chicago Cubs 1.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the NL Central lead, Jim Hendry and Dusty Baker are signed to five year contract extensions.
Late July: Buck Showalter fired, Bernie Williams will miss the rest of the season after double hip replacement surgery.
Early August: Ben Sheets pitches a perfect game.
Late August: Willie Randolph is fired.
In late September the Cubs lose their third straight game (6-2) to the Milwaukee Brewers to fall 12.5 games behind the Cardinals for the NL Central lead and 6 behind the Brewers for the NL wildcard.

Milwaukee Brewers win the World Series.

NL MVP: Pujols
NL Cy Young: Sheets
NL ROY: Fielder

AL MVP: Hafner
AL Cy Young: Santana (finishing a close second is Bartolo Colon, who wins 21 games despite an ERA of 5.43)
AL Comeback Player of the Year: Roberto Petagine
AL SS Gold Glove: Derek Jeter

I'm not sensing any hate towards the Yankees at all...

As for the Brewers, I really hope they make the playoffs. I really wanted to put them somewhere on my list. I just don't think it will happen.

Well, I don't think the Rangers will be a bad team. They should be decent, but I don't think they'll make the playoffs. That would be Buck's fourth season with the team and no playoffs. Plus his reputation as someone who really grates on his players and wears out his welcome quickly, I just assume there's a decent chance he gets fired sometime this season or after its over.

I actually think he's a decent manager.

pdirty: I don't really hate the Yankees, I was trying to think of a different way of making fun of the media+Jeter.
