Re: Call or Raise w/KTo
So MP1 folded? If MP1 folded it's close between call and raise. If MP1 called I'd raise.

Re: Call or Raise w/KTo
How much did Villain bet? The pot or 1/2 of the pot? If he bet 1/2 of the pot then raise but if he bet the pot then I would call.
You are in position and you can see what your opponent does on the turn. |

Re: Call or Raise w/KTo
That's awesome. Villain bet a little over 1/5th of of the pot. Or precisely 1/4.5th of the pot! Why oh WHY would villain do that, I wonder?

I'm raising the flop more often than not.

Re: Call or Raise w/KTo
Sorry,I mean V1 calls pre-flop, called around...
Yes, MP folds on the flop. I call because I TP/MK. That seems right to me |

I'm just trying to understand the thought process. [/ QUOTE ] The pot is tiny and BB's range is huge. Protecting our hand against BB is not much of an issue and letting villain in UTG+1 keep the initiative is fine. No need to blow him of his hand and no reason to get owned by KQ or KJ. This is basically a WA/WB spot although its multiway. If MP1 calls its different because a raise will get 2 calls in stead of 1 increasing the value of a raise. So what was likely a close decision without MP1 becomes an easier raise |

I'm just trying to understand the thought process. [/ QUOTE ] If MP1 folds the pot is pretty small and protection isn't of much importance, BB probably isn't folding anything you want him to for 2 bets (an OESD) but he might call with a 4 or 5 outer getting 6.5 to 1, and possibly even on the turn getting worse odds. Although you shouldn't play scared, there's also the benefit of losing the least if BB happens to have you beat. Whether the above benefits outweigh the benefits of raising (BB might coldcall 2 with a hand he shouldn't anyway, your hand is best and you make more off the flop bettor) are unclear. The standard response is going to be raise, and there's nothing wrong with raising. On a more dry board (say K52r) I think calling the flop is usually going to be the best play. If MP1 calls now we're getting more value on a raise and I'd say raising is definitely the standard play. |
