Default Did I get screwed here?

We were playing Juarez, which is basically PLO8, but with 2 boards instead of 1. I call out my hand nut low and full house after 2 people call my pot bet on the river. I table my hand. You can see the full house, but the other 3 cards(there are 5 total) are kind of a mess together and I am not sure everyone can see all 3 because the Ace is kind of on top of the others even if its tabled. I just flipped them fast I and left them out for the dealer to spread. A lady looks at my cards and thinks and thinks after I table my hand(she is next to me by the way). She then folds and the dealer spreads my cards for another guy who called my bet to see. He is across the table so the dealer has to grab all of my cards and move them to the other side of the flop to show them. The other guy has poor sight. It turns out I had not read my hand right and had third best low and not nut low. I didnt see that one of the flops had confiscated the 2 of my A2. I just kept looking at the bottom flop and I had never played this game before. The dude folds his hand after looking at mine and then the lady snaps. She starts screaming at me, "I had the same confiscated low", "you miscalled your hand". She says I should give her the last bet back. The last bet was 90 bucks and its a 1/2 PL game. I gave her 45 because I would have won 3/4 of the pot and half of her bet. She said thanks and I forgot about it. Did I make a mistake by giving her the cash?

She could have tabled her hand and been assured of quartering. Not your fault that she didn't. I wouldn't have given her anything.

edit to add: since it was an O8 game which was probably filled with nits I may have given her something.

What you did seems fair to me. You miscalled your hand. Since I think you both screwed up equally splitting the bet seems fair.

I like your solution to keep the game pleasant. But I don't think you really HAD to do this. You tabled your hand and she had plenty of opportunity to look at it. She's probably not getting the floor to rule in her favor even though you did miscall it. She had every opportunity to correct your oops before she disposed of her cards.

So what's the deal with Juarez suddenly (seemingly) being the in-thing? Binions tourney dealers are chattering about it a lot but I haven't tried playing it. Never seen it spread until this month.

Well Omaha high low is dying. Most people know how to not completely suck. Most people who are middle of the road players who would completely get destroyed in NL and Limit holdem just stop playing hands without an Ace in omaha high low and suddenly they dont get destroyed in omaha high low. This makes the games suck. Juarez makes it impossible for the fish to know WTF strategy to use even if it just a PLO8 variant. The result is monster pots even at the 1/2 PL level. One guy had 2k at a 1/2 table I sat down last night and he sucked pretty damn hard, but he was one of the better players and most thought he was decent.

Its a great action game. It should replace all forms of omaha high low.

Anybody have a link to the rules? I tried to google it and looked on Wikipedia but couldn't find any references. It doesn't help that the name isn't exactly original.

I should write that for wiki. I made a post on the omaha8/b forum go there. One big typo on the post. All example hands should have 5 cards not 4.

I have heard both terms at the casino, but if counterfeited makes you feel better go for it.
