Default New Laptop - Advice

Hi

I'm thinking of buying a new laptop for online poker. Could anyone advise me of minimum spec to look for? I use six poker sites and usually have all six lobbies open, and play up to four tables at a time at any of these six sites. The sites I use are Full Tilt, Interpoker, Stars, Pacific, Cake and Party. I also have a web browser open as I use Sharkscope. Finally, I am considering purchasing Poker Tracker and may open a large number of cash game tables just to build up a usable database.

At times I will hook the laptop up to a PC connectible TV.

As well as technical spec, can you also advise me on security? For my PC I use AVG anti-virus, AD-Aware and a-squared. Will these all work with Windows Vista?

Many thanks for any advice received

I would buy something beefy. I use PAH, PT, Stars and 2 or 3 tables open and maybe a web browser open and my 1.3 celeron M w/ 1.25 gigs of ram chugs at some spots(typically during the hand importing phase). Obviously you can pick something up way better then a 1.3 celery these days for cheap (I got mine a year ago for ~700 bucks) but whatever you do I recommend getting as fast processor as you can reasonably afford, and at least a gig of ram... preferably 2.

My biggest regret was not getting a large enough hard drive, was the only thing I skimped on.

So yeah, get a big hard drive.

Thanks guys

I think I'll go for 2Gb RAM and a 120Gb hard drive - I'm in the UK and Dell.co.uk has a model that seems to tick the boxes

Did you have a specific site for the student discount stuff? I was told Mac's have the same discount.
