Default I wanna be like Pokerbob

Villain is unusually straightforward for 1/2 and seems on the passive side. Not very creative either.

I raise 9s UTG+1 7 handed, he 3 bets. This means premium.

Flop is 975 with a flush draw and I c/r. He calls.

Turn A off suit, I bet 3 bet.

River 2.

I think its pretty clear what he has - can I c/r this river?

Since the villain's most likely hand is one pair that may or may not chicken out on the river after your turn line, I would just bet the river. In Pbob's hand the villain's range was weighted heavily towards broken draws and hands better than one pair. Im not saying Pbob's river sexy play was correct. I dont know the answer to that, but the thought process behind Pbob's play was perfect.

So basically whenever I feel that my opponent's most likely hand is one pair, I need a special read before I would make this fancy play. Becuz most human beings are risk averse, betting out will usually make more money than check/raising here under normal circumstances IMO.

why would anyone ever want to be like me? given your read, the board and the preflop action, i think he'd gladly check behind the river.

I'm really surprised at the responses here. This sounds like an nl thread when you guys talk about never betting a one pair hand. The fact that you mention he is passive is the only reason not to mix in a tricky play here every once in a while.

the right answer is to c/r the turn, not the flop.

Since you stopped describing everyone in every hand with you as a retarded monkey, etc, it's obvious you're a cool guy. And you're playing 1-2 in the Bellagio. Life can't be all bad.
