Default VP$IP ?

As a result of reading these forums i have been looking into getting a poker HUD and poker tracker. I have a quick question... what is the VP$IP stat and hopw is it used to rate your play and the play of others?

Thanks...

Default Re: VP$IP ?

VP$IP = Voluntary $ put in pit. It shows how many hands a player commits money to voluntarily preflop. A high number equals a loose player obviously. This stat is closely related to the PFR(Preflop raise) statistic which shows how many hands a player raises with preflop.

It becomes useful when you can make judgements about the range of hands a person might play based on the stats. For example, I won't play AQ against an EP raise with a good player. However, if someone is 40/20/2 (i.e. 40% VP$IP, 20% pfr), I'm happy to play him, because he could be raising weak hands like AJ, AT other soooooted aces and some marginal pairs that I can beat.

You can also tell their playing style pretty quickly. High VP$IP = loose, low = tight. High PFR = aggressive, low = passive.
