If You Fail (to 3 bet), Try, Try Again.
20/40 Commerce (8 Players)
UTG is a loose/passive calling station. HJ has only been around for a few rotations but seems decent and TAGgish. Preflop(8 Players): UTG calls, 1 fold, Hero raises AQ[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img][img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in MP, 3-bets in HJ, 4 folds, UTG calls. Flop(3 Players): Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, HJ/UTG call. Turn(3 Players): A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero bets, HJ Raises, UTG folds, Hero 3 bets... Anyone hate the flop donk or 3 bet? If you don't hate it, what is your plan if a cap comes? It didn't, but I realized this was one of the few times I raised in a spot w/o having a plan for getting reraised(shame on me). |

I generally hate the flop donk because it's a perfect time to c/r the field for 2 bets AND allows you to put in the right amount of action if 3-bet by calling down. Also, the flop is so dry that you're unlikely to get HJ to raise with worse hands. As played the turn 3-bet is perfect. I'd call down a cap and expect to chop most of the time.

I am not too fond of the flop donk unless you have reason to believe the TAG won't c-bet that flop which I think he will almost always. Just too good a spot to let UTG peel with some random crap and then checkraise. The rest of the hand is fine and if he 4 bets the turn I think you cry-calldown and pray for a chop but expect to lose.

Hold onto those thoughts, we're in for a long ride but I want some more responses first.

you could probably c/f a K river....
I would like the flop donk if the board was wet but as dry as this is it sucks tbh. |

I'm not sure I like turn/river as Hobbs/Surf have suggested. Your hand is either a set or two pair the turn 3-bet. Is this guy going to call 3-bets with something you have beat?
I would probably call the turn and donk the river. |

Re: If You Fail (to 3 bet), Try, Try Again.
Thinking about this more, I might just call turn and check-raise river. With this kind of hand, and in this kind of situation I want exactly 2 more BB to go in from here on out. I don't want 1 BB, I don't want 3, I want exactly 2.
