Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
5 - 10 NL OMAHA High 8 handed
I am under the gun with AAJJ double suited (clubs - spades) and make it $80 to go, my stack size ~ $900 Four callers including BB. FLOP comes T 6 2 containing two clubs. BB who has me covered bets $300 What I am supposed to do? Thanks for any answers |

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
Bet. You have two overs that will give the top nut set and the NFD.

Yeah you can push here without too much angst. You're a favorite over two pair, and in fairly good shape against top set. If he's betting with a combo draw (straight + lower clubs) you're going to be way ahead most of the time.

Arrrr-in. You're a decent favourite over much of his range, or virtually flipping with a set.

Easiest all in ever, if you folded, you should not be raising that hand under the gun.

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
I'd probaly try limp raising that hand utg 8 handed but since you didn't easy push on the flop.

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
So to make this post more worth while lets assume you have no flush draw and that same flop is rainbow. With that many people seeing the flop, is it worth taking a stab at??

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
By raising we really don't have much fold equity, is it bad to call and just let more people put more money into the pot (as I've seen some posts advocate) or even raise as well?

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
Not really because if BB bets at rainbow flop hero has between 4 and 7 outs max in a hand with 5 ppl in it including several behind hero.

Re: Double suited Doubled paired Aces under the gun
Flop play's pretty trivial. Either a push or a call puts you in great shape. If the people behind you are a lot more likely to call $300 than $900 with junk then leave them in. Otherwise, get your chips in.
Preflop though, you played this about as bad as you possibly could. The biggest advantage you have in NL Omaha compared to PL Omaha is that you can raise AAxx the way you want without having to worry about the stack sizes being awkward. What you did here is voluntary raised your aces to an awkward stack size while telegraphing them to most of the table. The play preflop is almost always LRR all-in. The exceptions are if the table's playing so crazy with drunks et al, that you think it's really likely you'll get an open-push called or if the table's playing so passive you think that there's <10% chance that the pot will get raised preflop if you call. If the table's playing that passive but you've still raised multiple times, then a raise to $30-$50 is OK which doesn't telegraph aces or give you awkward stack sizes on the flop that give you tempting odds when you're a dog. Raising to $80 is probably about the worst play you could make in all possible situations though. |
