Default Any site that tracks # of pc game players?

I guess what I'd be looking for would be a site that tells me how many players are online for a particular game at a time for the most popular games. I know something like Steam is still popular, but like if I wanted to play a game like UT2004 or BF1942 I could see which games are still popular. If anyone has any links or advice it'd be nice, thanks.

xfire is a chat app that links gamers in an AIM fashion and tells you what game your buddy is in. This obviously doesn't represent everyone, but if you go to their homepage their popularity rankings should be pretty accurate on a larger scale.
