Are the Rio Satellites for the main event only?
Does anyone know if the Rio is running satellites for the smaller events? Or SNGs? Any idea of buy-ins, etc would be appreciated. Couldn't find any info on the WSOP or Rio website... thanks.

I think they have SNG's with all kinds of buyins and they give out chips that you can use to buy in to whatever you want.

Re: Are the Rio Satellites for the main event only?
There are satellites ranging from $125 to $1000+. They pay out in lamers + cash. Lamers can be easily sold to folks standing in line at the cage for full cash value (don't let anyone talk you down). I played in a number of satellites with no intention of playing any more WSOP events and sold my lamers for both cash and casino chips with no problems.

[/ QUOTE ] Depends on the event in question. If it's directly for a certificate for a seat in the ME, in past years, if you: 1) Already had won a seat in the ME in a previous event 2) Had already paid your way into the ME yourself They'd award you the cash. In situation #1 you'd also get a W2G form as well, so you can pay uncle sam his share as well. Best advice is to ask before you sit down to play, and be sure to write down the first and last name of the person who answers your question. |

What exactly is a mega-sat (buyin, # of people, etc...)?

Re: Are the Rio Satellites for the main event only?
the rio has sng's around the clock, as someone earlier mentioned. there are 125, 175, 225, 325, 525, and 1030 buy ins i think those are exact, if not, they're close) Each one is winner takes all, but most chop near the end. the low buy ins are sort of a crap shoot, you get 1000 chips with 15 min. levels. by the 3rd round, most of the the table is short stacked, unless you are fotunate to have sevarl people bust out before then. you gotta get chips fast, it becomes an all in fest too quickly. of course, this is all my opinion. maybe i am just bitter because i have been all in with the best hand 8 out of 10 times and lost 6 of those times, but we all know how that goes...

Re: Are the Rio Satellites for the main event only?
They should start having the 2nd chance tourney's the 2nd week in July once the people start getting knocked out of the ME.
Those events will cost $550 and will be for cash prizes. |
