Getting myself into trouble from the SB with AJo
Table has been extremely loose thusfar, we're probably on our 3rd or 4th orbit, 20 minutes into a micro buy-in tournament when this hand comes up. I don't think AJo is strong enough to raise with here at this phase in the tournament, especially out of position, but I can't fold either getting 9:1, so I elect to see a flop. Table has been somewhat aggressive and loose pre and post-flop.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com Button (t1265) Hero (t1230) BB (t890) UTG (t860) UTG+1 (t1575) MP1 (t11030) MP2 (t2180) MP3 (t1700) CO (t1530) Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls t30, 2 folds, MP2 calls t30, MP3 calls t30, 2 folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Ok, so I probably have the best hand here, nobody showed any strength preflop, so I can usually rule out QQ, AQ, or AK. I fire out a 2/3 pot sized bet. Flop: (t150) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players) Hero bets t100, BB folds, UTG calls t100, MP2 calls t100, MP3 calls t100. Didn't really want three callers, although I still believe I have the best hand. I'm probably looking at 1-2 flush draws, a smaller ace, possibly someone calling with a queen trying to pair their other hole card. Turn: (t550) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) Hero bets t250, UTG calls t250, MP2 calls t250, MP3 calls t250. Turn is a blank, but I didn't bet enough here. I gave MP2 4:1 on his call, and MP3 5:1 on his. River: (t1550) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) Another blank, provided they were all on draws, there's no sense to value betting. But if someone has a lower ace, chances are they will call. Hero's move here is??? |

I would push the river. You only have a half pot bet left.

So we have a check-call, which I like, and a jam, anyone else?

Anyone else want to push the turn?
I would because you will still get plenty calls in this tourney from weaker hands. |

Re: Getting myself into trouble from the SB with AJo
Shove.
As stated I would've shoved turn and tried to get all the draws call behind. Sucks you were in a horrible position to see the strgh of their hands, although you did put a good feeler bet out there. As it stands, anyone who bets pot you are going to call, and a weak ace might just check. You want to shove and get the 1-2 aces to call you due to the swelled pot. Anyone with 2 pair is going to bet anyway, and u lose the pot to any better hand. |

Re: Getting myself into trouble from the SB with AJo
I pushed river, MP2 called and showed me 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] for the straight. I suppose pushing the turn would've been the best choice, I would've only been giving him 1.5:1 on his call and he would've needed 2:1 to make it profitable. I guess I was just wondering if anyone played this hand differently preflop or on the flop.

Re: Getting myself into trouble from the SB with AJo
The only other move preflop is a shove but not profitable long run. Definitely just call and bet out an Ace strongly (3/4 to pot)
