Default Antiques Roadshow Trip Report

I'll keep this brief.

My girlfriend and I really enjoy Antiques Roadshow on MPT.

Unfortunately, this fact translated to our attending the taping here in Baltimore yesterday. I knew what we were in for, but once a woman gets an idea, well, you know.

It would be tough to find more dupes, rubes, hillbillies, simpletons, and mopes congregated outside of the WSOP.

Before you go online for your Antiques Roadshow tickets, be forewarned: all you're signing up to do is stand in excruciatingly long lines (first line: two hours, second: one hour) with thousands of people for whom bathing is not a top priority. The olfactory experience is...new, it's unique, it's...something to be avoided.

So before you think about lugging Aunt Nancy's baby doll with the one eye that was her great-grandmother's from back in the Old Country, just make sure you understand what you're in for.

An utter waste of time. At least they have those really cool trucks at the monster truck things, and at least some guy goes flying off the turnbuckle at the smackdown things.

Here, it was just the same people, only here they're carting around dusty old crap from their attic, and nobody crushes a Mini Cooper or gets all oiled up and flying through the air.

If you should ever find yourself going to the Convention Center in any city anywhere, just make sure the tickets say "Twisted Sister Reunion Tour," "National Association of Cheesemakers Expo," or maybe "American Numismatists Convention," and not "Antiques Roadshow."

You'll have a much better time, and you'll be in much better company.

I went to one with my girlfriend (in London, ON) and my experience was exactly the same. It's one gigantic line and it would be hard to make it any less organized. A total waste of time.

OK, fine. I had a silver tea service, ca. 1855, which was valued at $4500-$6000, which was pretty much what I figured.

Because it's not a brag if you already know what it's worth and you're only going if your girlfriend wants to go and you're merely tolerating the entire process.

After we went and stood through the line, and had the sh*t appraised, and found the car, and drove back home, we got really high, and then we performed many coital acts, including fellatio, cunnilingus, and other acts.
