Default Poker camps

Not sure where this should go and couldn't find anything on the search engine. This seemed like the best forum.

Has anyone been to one of the WPT boot camps? If so, did you think it was worth the money? Or would that money be better spent in a bankroll?

I would say I'm an intermediate player. I certainly don't know it all, but I do study the game with books, dvds, etc. Would I learn anything new in this camp? In other words, are they aimed at the complete beginner with everything a rehashing of material found in every poker book around?

As a teacher I know that learning is often enhanced with a different approach. Reading alone will often only get you so far, but combining it with hands on can make a world of difference and these camps seem to do this.

It's a steep pricetag, but I'm tired of losing money. I feel I make the correct play more times than not, yet overall I'm still a losing player, so I'm looking for answers. I didn't expect to retire by now, but break even seems to be far in the distance.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

i wouldnt think they would be worth it.

if your dedicated and want to learn, there isnt a better place to look than 2+2. there will be a point where your learning curve will be slowed after many hours of studying on this forum. talking and learning with friends (or people better than you) is a great way to learn the game.

i personally wouldnt shell out 1k or whatever it is for this boot camp. but i suppose its up to you.

dont expect to go to one of those and learn alot in a few days, if you are willing to spend that kinda money then hire a poker coach, usually about 200 an hour but some may be much more, they will do sessions for an hour or so a week if you like and you will learn alot and throughout the week most will talk to you about anyhands you have encountered throughout the week for free

I went to a weekend WPT Boot Camp. It was fun, but it definitely was a rehash of stuff that I have learned in books. I would say it was geared more towards beginners than anyone else, although I still am glad I took the camp and think it was worth it.

One thing they concentrated on was paying attn to stack size, and that was something I wasn't doing as much as I should have. Keep in mind though that I am also a beginner and have been playing less than a year. That alone though helped my game tremendously, esp in sngs, and I think the class has paid for itself.

If you call a few days before camp begins, quite often they will be offering discounts if the class hasn't been filled yet. You may want to give that a try, you never know. Good luck either way.
