TT in BB - playing sets
Background - first hand post. I just moved up to 2/4 and am loving it, but I know I need to be even more aggressive than I have been so far. I def missed the part of SSHE that suggested 3-betting TT. Here I'm thinking I should have reraised on the flop since UTG+1 is LAG/scary board? The others in the hand are both passive.
Just trying to figure out how/where to extract more bets with sets. Enough editorial: Party Poker Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $2/$4 7 players Converter Pre-flop: (7 players) Heroine is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, 3 folds, SB calls, Heroine calls, UTG calls. Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (8SB, 4 players) SB checks, Heroine bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, SB calls, Heroine calls, UTG calls. Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (8BB, 4 players) SB checks, Heroine bets, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, SB calls. River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (12BB, 4 players) SB checks, Heroine bets, UTG calls, 2 folds. Results: Final pot: 14BB |

:grunch:
Preflop is fine. Three bet the flop depending on the read you have of the players involved. Turn and river are standard. |

Re: TT in BB - playing sets
Why didn't you three bet the flop? Am I gonna have to start killing kittens again?

Re: TT in BB - playing sets
you misspelled heroin. (joke)
3bet the flop, push your equity against the callers. without 2 coming a long for the ride here we could try a little FPS; but here we have to just value pump |

Re: TT in BB - playing sets
3-bet pre-flop (hand changes after that)
on flop, bet/3-bet--see you've got SB trapped there, and UTG is probably gonna call 2 more, esp if he has a flush draw. |

Re: TT in BB - playing sets
You've already mentioned reraising PR, so that's a given.
I would 3-bet the flop giving you a chance to get it capped when/if UTG +1 caps. Lead out on the Turn as you did and lead the river as you did if UTG +1 just calls the turn. If it gets raised, I would call the turn and check call the river. Not sure if this is weak/tight, but I want to show this hand down. |

Re: TT in BB - playing sets
Let me make a counter argument here.
Your against a limp and a raise from EP. Any over card flop with no set looks bad. So your position is bad for trying anything tricky if you miss the flop when you raised. Your position is excellent to play tricky if you have a good flop and you smooth call PF. To put it another way, your only geting the value out of your PF raise if you have a good flop, but this value is less than the value you would gain post flop by smooth calling. Your position wrecks normal mental impact on your opponents because you are going to have to check to them most of the time. What do you think? |
