Could I have gotten this guys stack? I never raise small pairs form the blinds, is this a mistake? What do you think of my river bet?

1 raise preflop, u got a crappy pot now, u could have stacked him.
2 bet pot on the river. |

Yeh I always figured small pairs are two hard to play OFP. Maybe not...if you miss your set you just check flod

I dont raise preflop, don't really want to play 22 OOP after 3 limpers PF. I play this exactly the same pretty much but maybe bet around 3.35 on the river. nh
Shizzle12345, can you explain your reasoning |

Shizzle, you said 2 bet the pot...Do you mean bet twice the size of the pot

All things considered I think you played this pretty well. I also wouldnt raise with 22 from small blind w/ 3 limpers. Depending on reads I doubt I'm rasing anything below TT here. But I could just be nitty.

I don't see a good reason not to raise preflop. With that many limpers you are going to get 1 or 2 callers and if they have big stacks then high implied odds.

You guys need to start raising your small pairs in any position *most* of the time. The main reason you do this is to build the pot early so you
A.) Make it easier to get the most money from your opponent when you flop your set B.) Commit yourself to the pot as early as possible, so that if the turn brings an ugly card, you have odds to call a bet and catch your boat |

I like the limp here. I think this is one of the inexact sciences of poker that all of us are constantly debating about. Should you limp pockets or raise pockets.
