Default Beat: Friend died.

Before moving away from home, I had about 3 friends I kept in touch with since high school. Since moving away, I've barely talked to any of them in about two years.

I get a call today from my little sister. It turns out one of them was on his way to pick up his dad and hit some woman head on. He was thrown through the windshield and killed instantly. After a couple calls and a few confirmations, this wasn't just some crap my sister was feeding me.

I knew this guy since Kindergarten. It wouldn't have bothered me as much if it was a grandpa or an older person, but this guy was my age. I'd stayed over at his house. We'd gotten drunk on weekends regularly.

I'm still in shock and have been trying to do different things to take my mind off it all day, but nothing's helped, so I thought maybe letting it out here would be good for me.

Extra Beat: When talking with one of the other two friends I kept in touch with, we talked about how his favorite band was Alice in Chains. Old friend suggested "Man in the Box" be played at the funeral.

Both myself and ursine have been through a similar situation.
I understand how you must feel. There is nothing worse than losing a close friend. Condoleances.

Sorry to hear about your friend. But christ, I couldn't imagine having a sibling that I even thought would make some [censored] like that up.

Really sorry to hear that TJ. Just remember, it gets better as time goes on, but it's tough. Be sure to talk about him and your feelings and thoughts with friends and family. Don't keep things bottled up because it'll only come up later in bunches. I've been through exactly what you're going through. I still think about her every day, even 8 years later, but it's the good times that I think about now - not the sad parts.
