Default How to Password Protect indiviudal files/folders?

i feel like there is probably a really easy way to do this but I do not know how. help?

You should be able to pw protect many data files through their parent program. If you can't... imo it's not real simple, and it can work out badly for you.

ok let so lets say i wanted to password protect 1 word docuement, or a .jpg, or even 1 program, how would i start?

I wouldn't mess with XP based permissions. You can password protect anything you want with TrueCrypt

You can use the parent application to password protect files it opens, if it offers the feature.

For MS Office documents:
File | Save As, go to Options dropdown, select Security Options.

Word encryption isn't very secure, I think it doesn't take much more than a google search to find apps that will break Office passwords.

search for "magic folders." Been using it for over a year. It makes your folders invisible in your hardrive so if you go to windows explorer you can't even see them.

I'm not sure this is true - I think they are generally brute force apps that don't 'break' the password, they just keep trying until it eventually uses the right one. This takes a lot longer than you would imagine.
