$50NL Really Lost with 99
Advice needed on the river, I have absolutely no idea where I stand. No reads on the villain although he is aggressive post-flop.
Bet Fred Poker Dune Acres 0.25/0.50, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker Button ($11.50) SB ($52.45) BB Hero ($39.40) UTG ($56.55) UTG+1 ($50) CO ($45.16) Preflop: Hero is in the BB with 9 9 2 folds, CO calls 0.50, Button calls 0.50, SB calls 0.25, Hero raises to 2.50, 2 folds, SB calls 2.50. Flop (7.00) 2 3 8 SB checks, Hero bets 5.50, SB calls 5.50. Turn (18.00) 7 SB checks, Hero checks. River (18.00) 2 SB bets 15, Hero? |

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
I call. Villain is aggro and your turn check makes it look like you cbet flop on a whiff and now you are shutting down so your hand strength is underrepresented. Villain's unlikely to have a 2 and could have a flush but more likely he is just trying to represent those.

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
This is largely read dependant. I'll fold or call depending on feel. FWIW I have made this exact play by villain with nothing before, its pretty intimidating.

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
I agree with Ama...I call/fold 100% based on how I'm feeling/image/table conditions etc.
................ BTW Paul, how are you finding iPoker? Have you played elsewhere for comparison? |

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
Raise more pre, seems like a pretty marginal spot on the river, but I probably call if he's any aggro at all like you said.

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
If your gonna check the turn for pot control, you are going to have to make calls like this on the river sometimes not really knowing where you stand. Your check is inducing bluffs.
You stated you have no specific reads with the exception that he is aggressive post flop. If he is aggressive post flop, he mighta lead/cr the flush draw. I think you are looking at an occasional 2, or TP, bluff due to your weakness. |

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
I only call this with some sort of read. With no read like you are stated, I'm folding with 99. JJ+ I will make the call. I think villain could easily have us beat here, and to me this is the type of call where you NEED to have a read.

I call. Every so often this is a flush, but this is a worse hand more often as well.

Re: $50NL Really Lost with 99
My first instinct is to fold here, buttttt.....
His near PSB on the river doesn't seem like a value bet, unless you have been calling down light. If he had a flush or a 2, wouldn't he bet less to entice a call. |
