Ok, not only should you bet the flop, bet more. AT LEAST 1/2 pot so you protect against a diamond draw and you build a pot. On the turn, nice.

Check or go all-in.

Edit: On the flop.

Looks good. I guess with your read you are only worrying about Ah Kh on the turn?

that would be my standard play, however i was extremely confident in my read. Lucky for me, Villian had JJ & turned a set.

I know you want to get raised, but underbetting the flop is 1 of two things your signaling, I have KK and I just got gayed or i have AA, please raise. Why don't you bet something normal. I know you got lucky and he popped the set on the turn but I'd rather build the pot on the flop. Either bet nothing or bet a real amount.

I just don't like the signal an underbet gives. It's underbet, get raised and reraise = monster or underbet, get raised and call = weak. WHy not just bet 3/4 or pot. I know results oriented shows that the villian picked up a great 2nd best hand but otherwise a diamond could come up and kill the action, or another card could come up to kill you.

I know at lower limits most players aren't calling 40 with a low suited but at higher limits it does happen. At my 2/4 NL table last night, donk min raises utg, UTG+1 makes it 28 with QQ, and laggy guy next to him calls with 73 suited. Flops a straight 456 and gets it all in on the turn. QQ should have laid it down but you get what I'm getting at. Bet while your ahead. If he's got the flush draw he's going to stick in so you might as well make him pay. Most of the time your not going to be lucky enough for him to catch his "two outter" that is an action fiend.
