Found an endorsed check - What would you do?
Going to get the mail last night, I found a folded check in the middle of my driveway. It was sort of bent up, so it had obviously been in someone's pocket and fell out. It was signed, both on the front and back with no "for deposit only" garbage. Should I cash it or mail it to one of the people? I've intentionally left the amount of the check out of this post, so if it matters, what is your cutoff point before you would try and cash it?

Send it back. It would be easy to track if they came looking for it. Unless u cashed it under a fake name with a fake ID at a check cashing place. U do anythingwith it with your real name anywhere attached to it, it will be easy to track u down.

i do the right thing...only because it's hard to get away with this... [/ QUOTE ] Get away with what? Once it's signed on the back, it's payable to whoever is in possession of it. It's not a whole lot different than finding cash on the street, except you know in this case who lost it.

^^i meant that i thought like a few other posters in this thread that it could be tracked fairly easily where the check ended up getting deposited to...i thought anyway...if not, then [censored] it and cash that boy...
