Default Standard AKo?

Hey all,

I'm at .25/.50 stars and have no reason to suspect SB makes raises that are out of line. Despite this fact, I initially think my 3bet preflop is standard. Afterwards, I'm not so sure. If he's raising in the sb legitimately, he must probably have JJ-AA, AK, AQs.

Most of the time my 3bet will make it a mistake for UTG+1 and MP2 to call, which is good. However, I am only ahead of SB if he has AQs, and even or behind otherwise.

Do you say this because you don't give SB this much credit? If his raise from SB is legit, I don't see how a 3bet is correct here.

legit as in, I have no evidence that he's a loose player.

I may be mistaken here, but I'm under the impression that due to horrible position, you need a very good hand to raise in SB. I *think* reasonable players rarely raise in that situation without a strong hand like the ones I mentioned above.

You don't have a read on SB good enough to play this any other way.

And is it .25/.50 or .10/.20? At .25/.50 SB could have sat on a tack and is spite raising to ease his pain. At .10/.20 SB could have mistaken the raise button for a delicious glass of Tang.

Raise! By raising you get to see if he calls or caps....whatever he does he is giving you information on his hand.

meek, so you gave him a hand range now go the next easy step and say/think about what capping or not capping means

please also realise that one of the reasons why playing aggressively preflop is good is because it makes your opponents either guess as to whether you have a big hand and/or makes it easier to get them define their hand for you. Play goot preflop and postflop becomes less of a minefield.

meek ...

your range for SB's raise with only two limpers is way too narrow

think something along this line:
99+, ATs+, AJ+, KJs+, KQo, QJs

PB, I think his point is that he is giving SB a range not that of what a 2+2er might have but of an average straightforward player who doesnt think like we do.
