Default ridiculously basic PF question

100bb stacks, no reads. Youre on the CO with 87s and raise to 3.5 xbb, small blind (18/14/3) pops it to 12xbb. Do you call? How do different villian stats effect your decision? What about KQs,AQs,AJs?

Pretty easy fold. 200 BBs or deeper and I'll call. I'll call some of the time with the other hands. Maybe like 75% call with AQs, 50% with AJs, and 30% with KQs. Again, deeper I'll call with all the other hands, even sometimes reraise with AQs.

i never call with AJs @ 100bbs. you say no reads so 87s is a muck. i either have to know that he'll stack off easily or that i have no fold equity post flop to make my decision.

Hi RAHZero,
I dont know much about playing deep, so i was wondering if you could briefly explain why reraising with AQs can be good deep?
Thanks!

So youre saying there's more of a chance you'll call a 3bet with AJs than 98s??

Yes, AJs has at least some pair value (our ace is good a decent amount of the time), and we won't make a straight that often with 98s. Plus two pair is often gin with AJs against AK. But yeah, I think I over-stated my calling frequency for AJs and KQs, I'll only call with them if I've been getting 3-bet from the reraiser a lot, and it'll usually be to make a play postflop.

As for reraising AQs deep, I don't do it very often, but it'll usually get a fold out of JJ, sometimes even AK, and it'll give us some easier postflop decisions.
