He called reraises very often. He also seemed to be pretty aggro post-flop. I had usually bet the flop after reraising but this time I did not want to get raised. I had also been somewhat trappy.

If you're gonna call this flop, you need to bet the scare card, not check the turn, and then check the river. You're NEVER playing a flush like that, and if you do, you're losing a lot of value.

I guess there are really two questions here:

1) Is bluffing here a good idea?
2) Did you execute a bluff well?

And the answers IMO are

1) There's no way we can tell you. This is HU, which is about 90% read-based. You obviously thought it was a good time to bluff, so who are we to challenge you?

2) No, I don't think you did. You're not representing anything but a bluff. If you had AQ, he probably wouldn't expect you to play it this way. It probably looks to him like you don't want a call. And so, of course he will call.

Preflop I do both, but prefer the call 200bb deep if they are decent. Bet the flop. But since you didn't, fold. Strassa said a while ago that bluff c/r on the river are not planned, where as people plan it out when they c/r the river for value. Most don't check/call the flop with a draw after they reraise preflop. Your hand looks like weak 1 pair until the river, where is looks like air. This is risky because I think the villain can have a strong hand often even though they checked the turn.

even more importantly, OP is never playing a flush this way on the flop.

edit: I mean, it is okay to check a FD on this flop, but I do it to c/r for balancing and mixing my range for that line.

a river check raise is very good, if you want tp to call you... so in your case it's spew (i often cr the river w/ strong hands i want to get called when i want to get my whole stack in but don't think a bet will get rr-ed)

i'd often bet the flop, since you just called you could lead turn and push river

but really if you check the flop, you should prob. fold
