I need basic heads up strategy
basic heads up strategy for $5 or $10 heads up games. I end up having to bluff half the time.

I find Harrington's basic HU strategy as described in HoH volume 2 very useful.
Make sure you check it out if you haven't already! One of the important points he makes is to never fold as first to act, as you always get good enough pot odds to at least call on the button against a random hand - even with 72o. Of course after a raise it's another thing.

This will make you're decisions a whole lot easier. When you get more experience you can open up your game from either position. Make sure to check out the HU forum for some good discussion.

I posted a question about Harrington's Head's up advice. he was talking about low M situations at the end of tournaments. Also note 72o is better than 32o(the worst hand heads up) If you have a deep stack, I'm not sure this is the greatest advice to at least call with 3-2o.
But I'm no head's up expert either. I tried a couple of times calling on the button with a deep stack and i noticed I wasn't up against random hands and people usually got the best of me. Although this isn't a large sample.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, as first to act you ARE in position. You're on the button, and the button is the SB and acts first. That's also one of the reasons why it's usually bad to fold no matter what hand you have. Like I said, pot odds AND position always makes it worth at least calling. The only exception would be if villian is very aggressive and often raise callers. If you know he's gonna do that, it might be better to fold the worst hands, as you know you're not gonna call a raise anyways.

You forgot the rest of harrington's sentence:
you have odds to call on the button, heads-up, with any two cards IF your opponent doesn't raise often. I think the next thing he says is you should raise with about 2/3 of your hands from the BB if your opponent flat calls, to deny him this very luxury. Maybe it was only half. My books are in boxes right now.
