Default Lightning Round stock contest -- Week of 6/11-6/15

make you picks (long or short) until sunday midnight. please include the catalyst that will drive the stock.

if you think this is cluttering the forum, then let's just wait one more week. no interest will mean no more threads of this type.

Catalyst Fishhead?

Also, it would be nice if people revealed if they had any positions in the stocks they promote.

The catalyst is that Bill Gates is heavy into this stock for one reason, within one year E-85 gasoline will be much more available nationwide and flex fuel cars will be hitting the roads everywhere. Will this pop next week? Not likely, but it will one of these weeks. LOL.

Eh, maybe. PEIX is an old worn out story that's been hyped for years. It's not a "hidden gem" or anything like that. I've made some decent money shorting it when it gets hyped.

i am going to put in my pick.

i believe with Bear Sterns, Goldman Sachs, and Lehman Bros reporting this week, the biggest winner will be Citigroup (C). it is speculated that while the bond market is driving all stocks down, financials actually stand to earn a lot of money. good reports by the three will raise analysts expectations for Citi. the stock should also recover from the seloff last week due to a NASD fine, and rumors/news of Citigroup finally splitting might also be in the works. these three events drive the price of C to $60.

i've owned it for a month or so.

I'll pick short Citigroup.

I have no such position in reality.

My reason is that I think it's incredibly difficult to consistently and correctly predict stock prices. Therefore, I think despite your best efforts, there's a good chance you'll be wrong about Citigroup (no offense intended). I think shorting Citigroup will demonstrate this best.
