Default $12+1 Bubble play: how bad was this?

This is a $12+1 stars 6-man turbo. 1st gets $47 2nd gets $25. About 10 hands ago, I had 2/3 of the chips in play, while the 2 shorties were about the same, so I stole a few pots preflop. Then villain started making preflop steals (and resteals) and built his stack up, which lead up to this hand.
With the SB so short, did I risk way too many chips here with villain being 16x BB deep? Initially, my thinking was he's raised 4 hands in a row , so my AJ has to be good. If this hand isn't worth risking that many chips, is call-check-fold or fold preflop a better play?

Hi atrainpsu,

I think you played the hand perfectly. Villain has been aggressive, raising multiple hands in a row ... so most likely he is on a routine steal. Meanwhile the pot contains just under t1000 with the antes, nearly 1/3 of your effective stacks of 3265. Lastly, you have a very solid hand for 3-way play, and you are out of position, so you will be last to act each street if you see a flop.

So all conditions are optimal for a resteal here, and shoving was much better than folding (too weak) or smooth-calling (too passive, OOP).

But even when everything's planned perfectly, the best laid plans of mice and men....

Best Regards,
Collin
