Default QJo in CO - too aggressive vs. unknown?

Villain is 32/4/1.5 after 20 hands. No reads.

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, MP1 calls, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, MP1 calls.

Flop: (5.50 SB) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: (3.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP1 calls.

River: (7.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
MP1 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, MP1 calls.

Not total unknown, but only 20 hands. Raised PF to get it HU in position. Called flop, aiming to raise turn. Too aggressive unless I have read he will bet middle pair? When called, should I have checked through on river?

raise the flop is better. everything else is fine. No reason to think we're beat.

Do you see him doing this with JTo? It's a pretty scary river, I wouldn't mind a check behind.

I would raise the flop over the turn, but since you didn't do that, I like everything else.

i' dcheck the river. he can easily have AJ or KJ here. he can also easily have two diamonds or the OESD on the flop (T8). notice both of these got there on the river.

so unless he is donking and bet/calling down from the turn with middle pair, the only hands you're getting value from are JT and J8.

I'd prefer to raise the flop and keep the lead throughout if he let me.

As played I like betting the river.
