This is a live $110 tourney at my local casino.
I got moved to this table about an hr ago, been fairly tight, with the exception of villain and myself. He seems like a solid player, def capable of making moves. We are chipleaders by far at the table, and in top 5 of tourney overall.Still 4 full tables left,so ways to go yet. We clashed twice right after I got to the table, both times I won the hand without showdown, the 2nd hand he raised my BB,I called and hit big on flop, and c/r him off what I think was a pretty big hand,I think he suspected he was being bluffed though, when he mucked,he said "nice bet,we'll meet again" That was 30-40 mins ago,and the last time we were in a pot together. Sorry for the long preample, but it all really affected the way I played this hand. Blinds 400/800,no ante,we are in the 60k range,I think I have him covered, barely. Villain raises to 2500 in hi-jack,I'm button w AKo,decide to just call. I know this is def debatable,I'd raise most of the time here, but wanted to mix it up,as well as disguise hand in case I flopped big,and felt good being in pos. BB calls as well. Flop is K-Q-4r. It is checked to me,I bet 6000,BB folds, villain calls. Turn K,no flush possible, villain suddenly leads out, betting 15000. Obviously did not expect that. Now what? |

I tank and call and then shove the river.
If he is making a move on you he is drawing dead so you might as well let him fire a 2nd barrell OOP |

If you call it might freeze him on the river, where you can make a big bet looking like you want to buy it. Or you can call and he fires again on the river, in which case you can call or raise (probably raise). I predict he'd probably freeze on the river given the betting pattern. Sounds like he's testing a Q with 2 kings out of the deck. If you've been pushing him around, you might be getting looked up with a river shove or more-than-normally abused with this OOP turn bet.
By raising, you will have: - Fired into 2 opponents on the flop - Raised the turn, despite OOT turn barrel by villain A raise announces you have a monster. A call is more ambigous, and I imagine more profitable with postion on the river. I think overall I like calling, and raising / betting river. |

You have to call. No chance in hell you can fold. You're looking to get your entire stack into the pot at this point. I'm probably not raising here against a strong player. Against a weak player, I might move all-in because I know that I'll be called by much weaker hands.

Good to hear that you guys would have done the same, but in hindsight I feel I maybe should have been able to get away from this,or at least lose less. His check on the flop, shouldn't that be a red flag? Such an aggressive player, wouldn't a cbet be logical here? Also,I got a little hung up on the fact that I thought he'd love to try and bluff me off a pot, instead of worrying about a trap. |

being able to get away from this hand without a spot on read is massively -ev. You are bing results oriented.
It is arguable that you should have called his river bet and not shoved if you do not think that he is calling with KJ/KT/AQ |

I agree that calling river prob better, however,he'd left himself with virtually nothing behind,so I pushed, without thinking I might add.... |
