When is it a value bet?
Just watching the WPT on the hand where the guy had K5o and the other fella 82o and Mr. 82o called a turn bet of about 250k when the board read Kx2A and the pot was about 350k and then called the 500k bet on the river when it bricked and said "nice value bet"
How is that a value bet? Too me a value bet is something smaller then 3/4 the pot and that 500k was over that. So my question is - what do you think a value bet is, exactly? Is 500k into a pot of 610k a value bet to you? |

Yes, I agree with "creedofhubris". A value bet is a bet of the largest amount you think your opponent will call.

Value bet - Betting for value, not bluffing. Read a book.

[/ QUOTE ] I didn't see this, but just wanted to make sure... K5o bet 250k into a 100k pot on the turn (making the pot now 350k)? Or K5o bet 250k into a 350k pot, making it 600k total before 82o called, now making it 850k? The latter scenario makes more sense, and the 500k bet on the river was into a 850k pot (about 60% -- a pretty normal value-bet amount). |
