Default BEAT: I OWE A 9 YEAR OLD $100

so i work at an elementary school where the families are predominantly of a low socio-economic status. a great deal of what my program offers is enrichment activities for kids who wouldn't necessarily have the opportunity to take such classes otherwise.

One of the classes we offered this semester was a beginning chess class for grades K-3. The teacher we hired is supposedly a pretty decent tournament player - she played a bunch in Switzerland apparently.

So on the last day of class she said she would play 5 of the kids at once and if anybody won she would give them $50.

This is a bunch of 7 8 and 9 year olds whose chess lesson began with "this is the horsey, also known as a knight -no..no! we don't eat the horsey. good."

She is a 20 something tournament player with multiple degrees.

After she mentioned the $50 prop I jokingly said I would give anyone that won $100.

Beat: I owe a 9 year old $100
Brag (beat): I made a bet in which I could either lose or not win
Varibeat: collusion?

it's pretty [censored] embarrassing having a 9 year old come up to you on the playground and yell "where's my money!"

actually, I am just going to make a transfer to her FT account...

but seriously:
i was thinking about putting it in one of those piggy banks that you can't open so that she can start saving. good idea/bad idea?
