Looks good, you might be up against Kings or Queens slowplayed on the flop with the 4bet, but I think you're seeing so many other hands here just put it in on the turn. I usually bet a bit more on the turn here, 2-2.75 since it is such a draw heavy board.

When he keep miniraising you, I think it is likely you are up against KK/QQ/88. However, I don't see how you can get away from it at these stakes on a drawy board.

Ok, you guys are right. Villain had KK.

Afterwards a was thinking: checking the flop is done when someone hits a monster.

But when I played that hand I just wanted to get the money in while the 3rd flushcard is not there. Don't know if anyone could get away from this hand.

Yeh, your turn bet nicely represents a flush draw and I quite like the play. Villain can easily show up here with AcQc in which case he can just call your first turn bet and maybe ruin your party. Lucky you that he didn't, because I think you'd struggle to get away from this hand if he called and a club came.

His turn raises say "I have a big set or 2 big pairs, please stay in the hand", but I'm with Ripper, the hand range is so wide that it's ok to get it in.

Personally I play my sets aggressively whenever I can, maybe I get smaller pots as a consequence but to me it's just rash to try to stack the villain every time I hit my set, particularly when there's 2 flush draws on the board! I make plenty with cont bets even when I miss my set. That said, if your PT stats say that you're making plenty on your sets (I make more on sets than all the other hands put together) then go ahead and do what feels good! I certainly don't think your play is wrong.

Sorry selector, missed your post. I think you could maybe have got away from the hand had you made a psb or overbet the pot on the turn, which is my play on that board. I would definitely think about folding to a raise after I had overbet the pot, and I'd be checking the river if he called. Like you say, him checking the flop was a bad sign, all the more reason to come right out and define your hand on the turn.

The whole thing about flopping a set, particularly late in the hand with a bad board, is you have to protect yourself before you start dreaming about the big profits.

But, like I said before, look at your PT stats for sets, if you're making the money then why change.

I make about 0.3 - 0.5 ptbb/100 with pp's < TT. I don't know if that's good enough or not.

I dont know how that compares to your overall profit, but it seems very low. Is that figure maybe for unimproved PP's?

I play NL10, which is probably a good bit more fishy than your level, and I have been running very hot, but even so over 3000 hands I am making 30 ptbb/100 of which more than half is from sets, mostly I am scoring between 5 and 20 bb per set. If I stack someone, great, but it's rare. I am pretty happy just to get a cont bet in and win pf money and blinds a lot of the time, I don't slow play unless I have a clear read that villain will impale himself on my sets or very occasionally to mix it up. Nearly every time I tried slow or tricky playing for the sake of it, it has gone wrong

I don't know how the get to profit for sets from PT. I only know how to get the profit for pocket pairs. And that includes sets, but also unimproved pp's.
