He didn't play the $1K event. He won't be playing a lot of the smaller buy-in events this year due to the fact that he would rather play the larger ones, and as you probably know that each event lasts for about 3 days if you do well. He doesn't really want to miss something like the $5K HORSE event because he is doing well in a $1500 Limit Hold'em or something like that.

Also, the past few years he played a lot of the events (even the smaller ones) and he was just totally burnt out by the middle of the tournaments.

I've played quite a bit of turbo sngs with dags lately on FT. Playing 100-300$ 9 handed sngs, and staying out of the nosebleed stakes. He has def stepped down in limits. It seems fair to assume (with no proof whatsoever) that he took some hits lately.

Wouldn't moving up in stakes be better? that way when he wins he can make more?
