There's a summer series going on at my local B&M. $50+$15 and one $50 rebuy during first three rounds. T1000 each for buyin and rebuy. 15 minute rounds 25/25, 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, etc
What's my strategy here? I played the first one this morning and did the rebuy instantly (I'd rather have the chips when I need them than insure against a bad beat). But I got NO CARDS. It was horrible. When my M was finally down to 4 at the 100/200 level, I pushed in the hijack with A3o and got called by BB with J6. Two jacks on the flop took care of me. I don't hate my play (42o fold, T7s and two limpers fold, 42o again fold, so forth and so on), but I'm wondering what's the best way to approach these. The field was not very good (lots of limping and minraises), and hardly any winnings hands were anything I'd have played at all. Ideas? Suggestions? |

Play tight early on. Pushbot later. Hold better cards.

Okay, but what's my range? I'm still relatively new to tournaments and look to use this series as a way to get practice and comfortable with making the right moves. Play to win, not to cash. After getting zero even remotely playable hands, is open-pushing with A3o a good play?
