Absinthe
I've looked around on the internet and I've found a few places that sell it. But they sell it having been made without wormwood, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Anyone that has had a good buying/drinking experience want to share?
Is it really as good as it's made out to be? Do you really hallucinate? I've heard a lot of very different things from people. |

Re: Absinthe
Stuff from Prague (bought in Prague) = dirt cheap, awesome effects, especially during a tool concert
Stuff from mail = A massive pile of stinking dog doodoo despite a $100 a bottle price tag. A can of Pabst Blue ribbon horse piss has more utility. |

Re: Absinthe
A unique buzz, definitely worth trying, but way overrated.

Re: Absinthe
Tastes like [censored], gives the same effects as vodka and is like 5x the price. Overrated.

Re: Absinthe
Good book - Deadlus Book of Absinthe:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dedalus-Book.../dp/1903517400 No wormwood = no point. Good absinthe hits you like a cross between dope and amphetamines; bad absinthe is no better than bottled mouthwash! Buy yourself the best - King of Spirits: http://www.absinthe.bz/store/absinth...f-spirits.html King of Spirits Gold: http://www.absinthe.bz/store/absinth...ye5&act_vn |

Re: Absinthe
I guarantee that 99.9% who are going to respond in this thread have never had real absinthe. That's because 99.9% of the "absinthe" that people have tasted isn't real absinthe, mail order or not. There was an article in the New Yorker about a year ago about how real absinthe is so rare, it's almost impossible to actually ever try it.

Re: Absinthe
The stuff grows wild where I live. Maybe I should walk outside and start chewing ...

Re: Absinthe
Some years ago, we spent New Years eve in Prague. It was an extremely cold winter there, so the absinthe become very popular with us. Our table neighbors set their entire table on fire.
I highly recommend the stuff. |

Re: Absinthe
I had absinthe twice when I went to Prague:
Midday I walk into a brothel I'd read about somewhere. They have a bar, and I pay about $10 for an absinthe. It's served at room temperature without ice, water or sugar. A disinterested young girl asks if I'd like to have sex. I make my excuses and leave. One night I go to a hip nightclub with good music and a nice crowd. I have two absinthe + tequila cocktails, whyich are absolutely deadly. I feel like I've been drugged - so tired! I stumble home, feeling like I've been hit by an elephant tranquiliser. My best absinthe memory was here in London, getting together with some chick at a house party, we're in the garden where people are sat quietly round a fire and we're doing shots of absinthe and making out, oblivious to everyone. The rush of the drink and the girl was just incredible. For sure you can get good absinthe outside Prague. People who say it's over-rated have just had the bad stuff. Shop around; read the reviews on what's the best. |
