One of my favourite games is "Field Commander" for the PSP. It's a TBS game VERY similar to Advance Wars on the GBA.
I always have 5 "correspondance-type" games going at any one time. I'm looking for similar type games for the PC. I have a Fujitsu Lifebook 7010D laptop- so it's no 3D gaming machine- but hopefully powerful enough for this type of game. I've heard alot about Starcraft- but I think it's real-time and not turn-based? I really need a game where I can make a move- upload it and then check for my opponents move at the end of day. That's why Field Commander fits into my lifestyle so well. All suggestions most appreciated. Ian |

Starcraft wouldn't work well if you're not going to check for hours at a time. Your opponent might have overtaken you by then...

I think there are one or two versions of X-Com out that allow for play by e-mail. I remember at least one was well reviewed, too.

If like fantasy, you might want to check out Dominions II/3.

I would suggest Civilization series.

I thought a simple game but entertaining was Black & White. You basically play god, and the people on this imaginary island worship you.

I got B&W2, and had a bitch of a time trying to get it to work properly, and when I finally did, I was kind of dissapointed. Not to mention I paid ~$30 for it and it's now selling for $10. |
