Default German/Russian Poker and the Evolution of Online Poker

Has anyone else on Party Poker noticed a distinct style of play among the majority of the Germans and Russians? Play passive preflop with stats around 45/10, do tons of underbetting, floating and weird passive lines post flop? Are there any Germans or Russians who can provide us with some information on the live NL scene in these countries and why this style of play is common?

When Party first opened $5/10 NL in March 2005, it was very rare to see someone with 6max stats of 30/22. The majority of winning players played with stats around 19/11.

30/20 stats didnt seem to become the norm until sometimes around Jan 2006 when the 10/20 6max games opened on Party Poker (Are BLDS and LOL responsible?)

While i am not certain, I think Spirit Rock made all his money overbet bluffing nits at $25/50+ on UB. The UB games seemed to turn from nitty to hyper aggro sometime around Sept 2005 when many of the young players who made hundreds of thousands in the Party $5/10 and $10/20 games which had been running for the previous five months started taking shots. Previous to this time, many players were inexperienced at HU poker, and these games changed from 10 handed to HU.

How is the tempo of a game molded? To what extent do players styles feed off of other players? Why do different regions have different styles of play?

there are a lot of Russians now getting into poker. Some of them are very very good, but most are basically microlimit grinding casino whores. In addition, a lot of the older ones come over from 5 card draw/stud, and the wealthier fish are multimillionaires that just don't care about blowing a few tens of thousands every so often. There's at least one guy I know of that's booked 7 figures off playing in Moscow clubs (mind you, giving out too many bad beats in those places can get you shot. Literally.)

There are also several poker schools teaching ABC PF play there so expect the lower limit Russians to tighten up soon.

This seems like the polish live games exactly the 50-100-200 polish game was the easiest game ive ever played in, it was full of crazy germans and russians who seemed so passive preflop and played exactly the same stats like 50-10....They seemed happy when they lost 2, and some were in for 5-10 rebuys and always stacking off with any top pair.

the russians and germans are typically aweful on party. I have this fish finding method called "look for an screenname ive never seen before that doesnt play 3+ tables". these 1 tabling lagdonks are so bad.
