UTG raises to $8, 3 folds, CO calls $8, Hero calls $8, 2 folds.

Flop: ($27) K, 7, 8 (3 players)
UTG checks, CO checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($27) 2 (3 players)</font>
UTG checks, CO bets $18, Hero ???

I usually smooth call this on the turn and raise a non paired river card. If CO checks river then I'd bet about 1/2 pot for value. UTG probably folds this turn bet unless he is slow playing a set or has hit the K w/ strong kicker or hit a flush draw (kind of unlikely since he raised UTG but tough to say without reads) or has a high one club. I like smooth calling here too because if UTG is slow playing a set of Kings he will raise this and you can get it in on the turn with dead money in the pot. Thoughts?

I think its a big mistake not betting the flop. Make it about $16 then flat call the turn as a raise will scare UTG off.

I would semi-bluff and bet the flop. I think if either of them had a K they would have bet it.

I don't bet the flop because I'm much more interested in winning their stacks than the money that's in the pot on the flop. I want to give them a chance to make a very good but not best flush.

If they have a flush draw they are not going to fold to a flop bet.

You should be betting this flop 99% of the time.

If there on a FD they arent going to fold to a $16 bet on the flop. The bigger the pot the better chance you have of stacking them.

If they dont have FD the chances of them being stacked a slim anyway, so get as much out of them as possible.

I disagree. I don't want to give them a chance to raise me off my hand. By not betting the flop here, you only lose the chance to win what's in the pot now. You do not lose the chance to stack them, which is what you risk if you bet and get raised off.

Its highly unlikely that you will get check raised. Even if you do it can still be profitable to call the raise.

I thought my flop play was pretty standard, but some are disagreeing. Further opinions appreciated.
