What level SitnGo to start at?
I'm relatively new to poker (a couple months of playing for real money), I'm 8.9 PTBB / 100 over 16k hands at NL 5 and my bankroll is $156. I've got my HoH 2 and I'm looking to take a crack at SitnGos next. Should I start with 1+.10 or 5+.50? I'm not sure how bankroll management applies to SitnGos and I'm not sure what the general skill level is at either of these games (I play on PokerStars).

If I were you I'd just keep moving on up the levels in the cash games.

I'd start at the $1 ones until you're sure you can beat them.

How many tables will you be playing at once?

"If I were you I'd just keep moving on up the levels in the cash games."
Some friends of mine are going to be doing some one table tournaments this summer. I also might play a casino tournament with them in a couple weeks just for fun. So I want to get a feel for tournament play. Also I want to add some variety to keep things interesting. "I'd start at the $1 ones until you're sure you can beat them. " Thanks for your input. "How many tables will you be playing at once?" I'm not sure. I can 6 table NL 5 6-max pretty comfortably, but I had to play about 10k hands before I was able to do that. Maybe 3-4. |

Be careful multi-tabling STT's. It's easy when the tables are full, but harder when you are down to 3 or 4 in 2 different games. Do what you like best. Or play cash games and if you win say $30 more than you expected, treat yourself to a $10 tourniment and take a shot.

just thought of one more thing: assuming I start with $1 tourneys, what's a good sample size to be "sure I can beat them"?
Matt: thanks, I'll think about that |

Seriously, I would say 20 at the most. I mean, if you have the basics down, you will be OK. Keep in mind at that level, most don't care. Now if you were to ask about a level like $50, that would be a different story. Look at it this way, try it out. If it doesn't work, change games. |

Re: What level SitnGo to start at?
arrghhh. I played seven $1 SnGs and noticed two things
-Some of the worst players I've ever seen play these things -I seem to get bored and stop caring and then make horrible moves maybe they're not for me. all I have to show for that run is one third place finish. may give it one more shot tomorrow. |
