Yesterday was the last day for public schools here. That means my morning commute is 15-20 minutes shorter every day.
No more damn school zones that back up traffic for blocks even though any kid who gets to middle school kid or even high school kid and still can't cross the street by himself probably needs to be removed from the gene pool anyway. No more soccer moms who either drive 10 miles under the limit, or use their Dodge Caravans as battering rams in their madness to drop off their kid so they can rush back home to their hectic day of soap operas and bon bons. No more teenage drivers who got their license last week, and still have to think about which pedal is the brake and which is the gas, and have no sense of how big their car is or how wide the lanes are. No more school busses stopping at every block because the school systems have decided to enable our children's laziness and, god forbid, they have to walk more than a block to the bus stop. |
