Default How do I become TAA? Problem with my stats.

I have had pretty good success at the .25/.50 level at Party, but I feel like Im not ready to move up (actually I have gotten my butt kicked) to the .50/1.00 level because even after all I have read, my stats are nowhere near where I'd like them to be. Here are my stats, the first column is how I have played over the last week while winning 6.48BB/100 and playing 2100 hands. The second is my overall, including about xxxx hands. My question is... how do I get my stats where I want them to be? How do I become tight aggressive (Im currently TPA according to my rating system)? What exactly do I need to look at in my game to move on to the next level? Any advice would be appreciated.

Your sample size is way, way too small to be saying anything at all about your win rate. It's quite probable that you're actually a 0-1 BB/100 winner, or even slight loser who's running hot.

As for how to fix, respond to posts here. Speak up in the posts where someone raises a hand preflop that you'd either fold or limp. Definitely pipe up if there's a spot postflop where you'd call but people are either raising or folding. You're seeing a helluva lot of showdowns. Check the FAQ here for info on Grunching.

Shameless hijack ...

My player ratings were imported from the Poker Tracker guide's suggestions. Are these the guidelines that you/most also use or do you have different rules?

It's hard to believe you can have such a great bb/h with those stats, personally I think you are running good. I don't think you should rely so much on stats, but focus more on playing every hand correctly. You shouldn't be betting or raising just so your stats will look better, but because it's the correct play. Post some hands you've played, and respond to others. Also, read SSHE if you haven't already.

I used these ratings... (see below) from Bet the Pot.com. I am actually pretty close to being tight agressive by this rating system... doesn't make it so, though does it? I would like to see...

VPIP 18
PFR 9
AFR 2.3

Cause those are the guys who constantly kick me around. Do you think I just need to fold more, preflop and when I think I'm beat? I tend to stay in just because I think people are bluffing. Sometimes I am right, but I show 2nd best hand an awful lot.

Autorate rules are pointless. We already know that the usefulness of stats pales in comparison to the value of real reads. Well, at least stats give you numbers. Some shady classification scheme doesn't even give you that. You can't resolve between a 10 PFR and a 30 PFR and a 50 PFR w/ those, and the distinction is pretty big. The only autorate rule I actually like is I have one that sets all players with a VPIP of 60 or greater as a moneybag, and then I can easily filter for them in my PT database and add them to my buddy list.

As others have said, your sample is too small. That being said, you're missing a lot of equity by not raising often enough preflop. Your pfr should be over 10% and closer to double what you're showing.

Here's a thread I seem to reference often on these stat posts. Ed Miller makes a post about raising standards.

What? My link works. I just started it at the discussion of when to preflop raise. Suppose I should have said that.

Edit: since I pull it up so often for reference, I'll go str8 to Ed's post next time. Thanks Wookie.
