Default Can the $2.20 Tilt-Turbo STT\'s (60 ss 3minB) be profitable?

The ongame network has sit and go's where everyone starts with 60 chips, blinds increase every 3 mins, and start at 10/20. Now, clearly these aren't to be taken too seriously, but can these be played +ev and thus profitably? I played about 20 of these just for fun and by no means as a money-making endeavour but was curious if playing these to the best of my ability when taking a break from normal sit and go's doen't have to be -ev in the long run.

It gets down to 3 handed after about 1 minute which means the blinds are still low. So providing you get to the stage when you have 100 chips or higher and blinds still 10/20, though, the push range is almost 100% > its sill possible to have an edge, no?

Its likely that 3 handed you will have almost 10bb which means any knowledge of icm will create an edge over the clueless opponents who will fold in +ev situations. Correct?

Of course you can have some edge. But the relevant question is really if your edge can be higher than the rake. I doubt you can beat the rake here, unless your opponents are playing incredibly tight. (Which does not seem to be the case, if you are down to 3 handed within 1 min.)

I'd be surprised if they weren't profitable. $2 players combined with an unfamiliar structure usually = profit.

Hi,

We were sort of hoping this discussion should emerge somewhere and are delighted that it has.

This concept is something we are still experimenting with quite wildly (you may have noticed that our operators now run 50 player SnGs based on the same structure as of yesterday) and final decisions on what to do with it is yet to be made.

Clearly, we do believe there is an skill edge to it. Otherwise we'd never provide our operators with this kind of game.

Just analyzing how the concept changes slighlty when moving from a 10-player version to a 50-player version is quite interesting we feel.

Sincerely,

The Ombudsman
