Getting away from flopped set or playing it diffrent?

Button seemed like pretty average/above avarage uNL player, did get the feeling this guy might fold something like TPTK to push unless pot comitted. Typically aggro player waiting to flop a good hand or scare weaker player of pot.

- Flop -

Decided to represent 'fish with TPMK, unsure if king was good' and see if I could get the button to do the betting with something like AK,KQ,K10,

- Turn -

Ok, here I just follow up on my orginal plan, trying to get all the money in starting of with a mini-raise trying to protect my "King".

At this time in the hand I was playing against him as if he was on AK or K10.

- In retrospect -

The guy just call flop, then re-raise my raise on turn..
The more I think of this hand, the more I'm starting to get the feeling I've trapped my self here.

Either I'm ahead more times then not because of hands like:

AA, K10, 67, 66 ++ hands he probably would have raised flop with but might call with like KJ, KQ, AK ++ QJ(semibluffing on turn, trying to force me out) ++ Random uNL madness.

OR I am way behind against hands that he would slowplay like KK, 1010 ++ Straight 6-7-98-10

I can't make up my mind to which is more likely..

As it turned out I was representing 'Fish with a 1 outer beliving he can play poker'. I lost to a set of tens.

I realy can't decide how I should/would have played this hand in a a more +EV friendly way.

How would you have played it?

c/r flop if u can. if he calls fire a little more than 1/2 PSB turn and jam the river. You cant fold a set here without more info on villian other than stats. And based on his stats alone I never fold a set here.
As played your mini raise on turn is kind of bad, raise more at least to 10$ and try to get it AI there. I like to fast play my sets esp. after turn.

Lead the flop for more, maybe $3. Lead the turn.

Set over set happens. There are occasional times when you can get away from sets with &lt; 100 BBs. I don't think this is one of them.

I like a 3-bet pre-flop, especially 4-handed against an aggressive opponent. You're not just playing 77 for set value here.

Lead flop. You did good there.

On the turn, it's best to keep the initiative and hope that you get raised, in which case you can go all-in. The c/r on the turn is a very strong move and might scare villain away from a good hand, like KQ for example.

And what were you thinking with the min-raise? I don't see what good you can accomplish there. It loses a ton of value.

Folding at any point is ridiculous.

If you try to play like you're weaker than you are and your opponent to push, you have to be willing to call.

I don't fold this in any street, I think you played this fairly well.

Ok, I hear you guys.

Basically I'm gonna be ahead more often then not (specially with villain on pretty wide range), and I need to concentrate on building pot.

Andrew makes a good point about the check-raise on turn. Making a hand like KQ fold is just not what I want.

Indeed better just leading out. Silly me.

About the c/r on flop.

The reason I see why one would want to c/r flop with a strong hand like a set.

1. I'm gonna catch alot of bluffs on the flop (against aggro player).
2. If I can get villain to call with worse hand, that's money in the bank. And it is probably gonna be alot easier from there on to get all my money in.
3. I'm making it expensive to draw/cutting down on my opp. implied odds.
4. Did I miss something?

Resons I might not want to c/r but raise instead

5. Villain might be alarmed and play/fold a hand he might otherwise have played more aggresive with.

Which of these reasons do you feel/know is the most important factor to consider, deciding to c/r or raise in this hand (against similar opp) in trying to maximize you EV?

Another intresting point Andrew makes is 3-betting preflop. I definitly can see some value there. Just not sure my postflop play is good enough just yet to make that play more then marginal [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

Lead turn. Everything else is fine (although I lead for bigger on flop, ~2.75)

Edit: Explanation why min-raise is disgusting. You're giving him over 5:1 odds to call.
