Default May Goals - how do you do?

- get a coach for supernova freeroll (since I dont do NL)
- make at least 4 digit profit
- get 30k + VPP
- take a break after dropping 50 BB
- quit for the day after dropping 100 BB
- tighten up my game
- stop bitching around at the table (maybe I just ask stars so disable my chat)
- read some NL books

edit:
- get an avatar picture

- didn't find a coach
- made 4 digit (pretty easy if you just turn points to cash at stars)
- made like 38000 of those basic points (133000 points to spend)
- taking breaks works out most times
- just lost more than 100BB at one (black) day
- didnt tighten up (maybe a lil)
- stars disabled my chat (on my request)
- read the first phil gordon book
- havent got an avatar obv.

overall the month was ok. one more week of playing then I'm heading to the USA and do some vegas time.

I played good for the most part and ran good except for a -50BB 10/20 session.

graphs will be posted later tonight in the old may goals thread. I like using the old thread because it is easy to compare goals and results.

[ QUOTE ]
1. Play disciplined poker
1.1 Quit after dropping 50BB in a day
1.2 If steaming, take a break.
1.3 When drunk/high only play low stakes
1.4 Maintain healthy yoga/work out schedule

2. Make 6000$ to raise money for vegas trip.

3. Balance playing NL and limit, live and online.

[/ QUOTE ]

Every single discipline thing I failed.. The 50BB was unreasonable completly (underestimated variance of 5/10)
Played a couple days drunk too. Completly inactive physically.. Social was good.

Despite this and a 25k breakeven streak of the bat posted a winrate of 1.6BB/100 over 50k hands at 5/10, as well as 4 good winning sessions live at 10/20 including a "high hand jackpot" of 500$. Lost 1000$ at 3/6 over 4-5k hands when the 5/10 games sucked and 3/6 looked especially "good"..
Also, 4k worth of travel + future shop gift certificates from stars VIP. =~ 13k month

Played basically no no limit.

So far doing much better than an entry level job :P

The start of the upswing was literally the day after I posted on my break even stretch... Guess the poker gods read 2+2.

Coincidentally (actually not) it coincided with the start of my massive mid-month downswing (~$1750). My advice is to just check/fold the flop regardless if you raise SB hu vs. Heis's BB. No matter what you have, he outflopped you...

Play less, post and study more.

This worked good. I'm thinking more when I play (although I still autopilot too much gotta work on that) and especially instead of just reading 2+2 when doing other stuff I try to focus on what I'm reading. Only played 17k hands this month though

Continue improving so that I'm a winning 6max player in 2 months.

Well this is going well. I know, variance etc but as I just started shorthanded 2 months ago, this month I'm a .5BB/100 winner at 1/2 (10k hands) and 2/4 (6k). Unfortunately break even in $ this month because I lost @ 2/4 and 1/2 (even though the tables I played 2/4 at where way way better than the 1/2 tables, damn you variance).

With boni and RB something like 9.7€/h. Not too bad for a students job here in Belgium and the fact that it's also a lot of fun makes it awesome =)

And yeah no fancy play without a read.

Errrr ... I'm doing it less, that's a start

1. Start transitioning from 2/4-3/6 to 5/10. My goal is 500 hands/day of 5/T, unless the BR takes a real walloping. When/if the BR gets to 10k, switch full-time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Did ok with this at the start of the month, was actually playing 5/T full time for about 10 days, but the games got bad during my playing hours during the promotion, and I played/ran bad while taking a shot at 10/20 (50% table SF, but way aggro = +EV but swingggggy), dropped a bunchsky in one day, cashed out down to a 2/4-3/6 roll to avoid tilting off the rest and have been (happily) grinding ~8 tables of 3/6 at 2+ bb/100 tyvm.

[ QUOTE ]
2. At the same time, if I'm going to play a marathon session, make it 2/4-3/6.

[/ QUOTE ] I've actually been playing 'shorter' sessions (usually 500 or 1k hands, which happens pretty quick 8+ tabling), but playing multiple sessions. Amazing how a 15-20 minute break clears the mind.

[ QUOTE ]
3. Sat into the Sunday Mill every week I can play, cash at least once.

[/ QUOTE ] won about 6 sats for the first weekend, couldn't play it, and haven't even played a sat for the rest of the month.

[ QUOTE ]
4. Keep up the gym regimen, finally get below 200 for the first time in ~5 yrs.

[/ QUOTE ] Stuck between 200-205 all month - tweaked my knee which makes long-range cardio a bit of a chore. But I'm noticeably more fit and definitely lighter on my feet playing sports. + lifeEV

[ QUOTE ]
5. Stop reading 2p2 at work so much - corollary, get the billables up.

[/ QUOTE ] FAIL. Billables are ok, but still too much 2p2 at work

[ QUOTE ]
6. Catch up on my reading, poker and otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ] 2 5+ hour flights helped, read Stox, Mathematics of poker, parts of the new Dr. Al book, Bigger Deal (A++) and several non-poker books.

[ QUOTE ]
7. ????

[/ QUOTE ]Well said, then and now

[ QUOTE ]
8. Profit!

[/ QUOTE ]No PT at work, but somewhere between +3000 and +3500 for the month between 6-max, SNGs (20% roi = sustainable, right?) a few donkaments, bonii - the very ugly shot I took at NL100. 50+K vpps, <20k away from SN, will clear 2 $1500 bonii in the next 25k hands or so.

Found out I passed the bar exam, got 10% raise at work. The ex probably wants me. Life is goot.
