Default blackjack question

Sorry, I have never played blackjack. Is it allowed to keep uping your bet untill you eventually win? For example. You bet 5, you lose. Next hand you bet 11, you lose... then you keep going utnill you show a profit. Are there any rules to prevent this?

One of two things will happen:

1) Eventually you might hit the maximum table limit.

2) You run out of bankroll

That's right.
Hard to imagine any way it can lose...
This fella named Martingale perfected it and died a very wealthy man.

Look up the term "Martingale"...and no, it eventually leads to ruin.

Or a bot that can automatically delete these types of posts.

I have to wonder, do some of the people asking these questions ask them because they think it is funny watching the answers.

Anyway, in case they are serious, go to:

Like all things in life -- you need to weigh the potential outcomes. If your desire to gain over time is small -- your bankroll is large -- and your aversion to risk is minimal -- this may be fun for you.

To most of us, it's hard to see how all of these desires converge -- because rationally they appear contradictory. Mathematics says you will lose -- eventually. Mathematics also says you will die by driving a car -- eventually. Without mathematics we know we will die ... certainly.

Weigh these factors how you will -- it's a very personal thing.
