Default L.A. Weight Loss.....any good/bad experiences?

I'm going to do L.A. Weight Loss with the girlfriend. We're going to there tonight. I'm not too bad (5'10, 195lbs.) but she's put on some weight and I think she'll do better if I'm doing the program too.

Anyone do L.A. Weight Loss? Good or bad experiences?

The thing that really bothers me is that they don't encourage you to excercise. They never ask if you are even trying to exercise. In the daily weight journal where you list everything you eat, it says "Daily Activity" but they could care less if you list something or leave it blank.

If you both do this, they'll try to get you to throw 4,000 dollars away over the course of the next 8 months. The program has absolutely no value and provides nothing you couldn't do on your own at far less expense.

No diets work. They all fail.

This is what I've heard about L.A. too. They're a scam. Run!

this isn't (just) a tounge-in-cheek response. Most current literature show that all diets on a whole are not effective for dropping weight and keeping it off. An astonishing gain all the weight (and then some) back. They loose fat and muscle when they drop the weight, and put back on only fat. Exercise is the most important part of any weight loss plan and it needs to become a regular part of your life if you want to cut weight and keep it off.

going on a diet is completely different than making a lifestyle change. Obviously exercise is important, but if you wake up tomorrow morning and eat Zone (measuring portions) for the rest of your life you WILL get to and maintain a healthy weight. All of diet literature is aimed at getting people to lose weight fast which is completely retarded.

i couldn't agree more with the "lifestyle change" comment, that's what everyone should aim for.

Psychologically it's very tough if you cheat on your diet for a day or two, to go back to your restrictive diet feeling like you screwed everything up. If you have the mentality of "lifestyle change" it's a lot easier to go back on the wagon again.
