Flopped set, line check. (I hate parts of it a lot.)
Villain is 14/7, though I didn't know it at the time. The hand and then my thoughts:
Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.05/$0.10 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter) SB: $14.00 BB: $6.70 Hero (UTG): $9.75 MP: $13.15 CO: $10.70 BTN: $13.20 Preflop: Hero is dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (6 Players) Hero raises to $0.50, MP folds, CO calls $0.50, 2 folds, BB calls $0.40 Flop: ($1.55) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players) BB checks, Hero bets $0.90, CO calls $0.90, BB folds Turn: ($3.35) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero bets $2.50, CO calls $2.50 River: ($8.35) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players) Hero checks, CO bets all-in for $6.80, Hero calls all-in for $5.85 Uncalled bet of $0.95 returned to CO Pre-Flop: Standard. Flop: With a drawy board I probably should have bet more here. Pot it. Turn: A bit better now that I have it heads up. River: Given that I called his bet, I hate the check. It lets worse hands check behind, and better hands get me all the same. Calling his bet. He was not a calling station, so I had a very, very hard time putting him on a rivered str8. And I have to think that if he flopped it, he would have raised before this. The only hand that got here was some sort of weird, passive combo draw, or TT. Given the pot odds, and the chance he's on a bluff/worse hand, I think I have to call this. Thoughts? |

bet more on flop. ~1.20
turn seens OK river its a tought decision... but i call with 2.4:1; I think u are ahead of his range, since u check the river and give him a chance to bluff |

Re: Flopped set, line check. (I hate parts of it a lot.)
I'm new to NL so take my analysis for what it is worth...
I like your analysis. I have to wonder what a 14/7 (assuming at least a reasonable # of hands) guy is cold calling your with from CO - 66+ or 77+? After he calls the flp, I can see 77 to AA, AJ and maybe AK. He's not a calling station, so when he calls the trn bet, it must be 77, 88, AJ, or AA. His all-in on the river smells like AJ, AA or a smaller set. I'm leaning towards excluding AJ from his range given his tight PF standards. I'm also heavily discounting a flopped straight given his PF standards. Either way, I think you gotta call here. [ QUOTE ] River: Given that I called his bet, I hate the check.
