Default LCD TV as extra monitor

I was thinking about getting an LCD TV to use as an extra monitor for playing poker and also to play PS3 on and watch tv/dvds. When I was looking through the samsumg range, all their tvs from 26" to 40" have a resolution of 1366 x 768. Why is this?

BC they're 720p sets. The best you can get is a 1080p set which is 1920x1080. LCD TVs can make decent monitors with some tweaking. If you decide to get one let us know and we'll help you out. Try to find one with a DVI or VGA port.

'cause I am fairly sure that there is no TV signal in the world that broadcasts above 1920x1080. Thus, TVs are not made to handle higher resolutions.

Even HD-DVD and blu-ray is only at 1920x1080.

For what you seem to be after, the Dell 24" (and, I assume, their new 26") monitors are very good. I have a Dell 2405 hooked up to my HD set top box as well as my pc, and I can flick between the options.
