Party 1k 6max: Flop Bluff vs. loloTrickedu
History: lolo probably knows I am tight and selectively aggressive player. I suspect that he is employing flop bluff and free showdown raises(with middle pairs) against me frequently because he knows I am often entering the pot with marginal hands.
I am dealt AKo in first position. I raise to $35, loloTrickedu is the only caller in the CO. Effective stacks are ~$1300. Flop comes J-4-2 rainbow. Pot is $82. I bet $55. lolo raises to $150. I pause for a few seconds and reraise to $400. |

Re: Party 1k 6max: Flop Bluff vs. loloTrickedu
Jeff:
I do not want to hijack this thread, but the first two responses are evidence of the decline of this forum IMO. The threads where people actually take the time to break down hands are fewer and far between, replaced by smartass/lazy posts such as "push," "nh," or "I don't like it." I happen to think this IS interesting, and as a 1k player who has to play against lolotrickedu alot, I AM interested in opinions about this hand. Personally, I do this against him occasionally to try to get him off my back/make him pick on other people. He loves calling in position to play at pots and from what I have seen is quite successful with this strategy. I happen to like your play on this hand because I think it is likely that he will lay down a jack in addition to his airballs (which I think is pretty often). Hope it worked out. |

I think some relevant information is missing.
Would you play AA this way? Or AJo? |

If seriously I dont like it. Often playing with him too. He can have here air and can have set. Why do you want commit yourself so much in this situation without position against tricky opponent? I dont undestand it. You can just check this flop and then c-r him... with the same effect or check-call- to see his turn action...what do you think about this line?

Hey jeff. I dont like it. lolo isnt stupid, hes good. would you play aj+ like this here or would you call his raise and c/r the turn? If the board was a bit drawier Then I like your play more because he could think you are fearing a semibluff raise and playing your big hand fast.

I understand now that I was not representing a strong hand here--I am making a pure strength-based bluff and this is generally a bad idea against a good hand reader. With an overpair or AJ I'd probably play as you suggest. |

If you had two tens instead of AK, would anyone like this play? Does this opponent raise this flop with 99 or worse? I don't know the answer just curious what people think.

I can't think of any hand that would 3-bet that flop if ur tight. Check raising the turn is much scarier.
